Jambul Fruit aka Buah Kerian aka Naaval Pazham

Today, I have been introduced to a fruit which I never tried before. It's called Jambul Fruit (Syzygium cumini) or called Naaval Pazham in Tamil. My husband bring this fruit to me as I would love to try eat exotics fruit. Even it's not a familiar fruit in Malaysia, I think people in India would familiar with this fruit. There are common name for this fruit :
Malay : Buah Kerian
Telegu : Neredu Pandu
Tamil : Naaval Pazham
Malayalam : Nerale Hannu
Bengali : Jam
Oriya : Jamukoli

This tree start flowering from March to April. The flower are fragrant and small. The fruit develop by May or June and resemble large berries. The fruit is in oblong shape and starts green and turns pink to shining crimsom black as it matures. The fruit has a combination of sweet, mildly sour and astringent flovour and tends to colour the tongue purple (Source from Wikipedia)

Anyway it's not a 'hard to found tree' as my husband found it in middle of city in Kuala Lumpur.
